PAINTING CLASSES AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND
Weekly painting classes for people of all levels who wish to increase their painterly skills in traditional and contemporary painting techniques in oil, acrylic and watercolour, Alla Prima and Egg Tempera/oil 'German mixed' techniques.
Students are encouraged to explore materials, colour mixing, underpainting, glazing and painting mediums as well as preparation of surfaces and grounds for paper, wood, canvas and linen.
Each student is encouraged to experiment, to develop observation, self expression and to follow their own path and approach to subject matter, analogy and contemporary practice.
The general atmosphere of the classes is one of learning as required, knowledge sharing and enjoyment.
Students please bring your own materials (please see list below). I'll provide pots of tea and coffee !
3 HOURS SESSION ON MONDAYS 11AM TO 2PM, 6 WEEK COURSES. Private lessons at other times may be available upon request.
Location: Sandringham Auckland.
Students can join at any time. Cost group classes $75 for 3 hours.

About Raewyn Turner :
I've taught art, creative process, performance to adults at tertiary level in art and design, and dance performance, in community art workshops, and high school students as well as primary level, and special classes on art and creativity to tertiary early education students. I hold regular classes on traditional and contemporary painting techniques and drawing privately and formerly at Mairangi Bay Arts Centre and the Lakehouse Art Centre, Auckland.
I'm a multi disciplinary artist and have been practicing since 1975 when I graduated from Elam where I majored in painting. Since then I have maintained a daily art practice creating videos, interactive installations, paintings and theatre performances, and have worked with olfaction since 1999.
In 2008 I gained Masters in Art and Design with First Class Honours. In 2004 I was Digital Artist in Residenceat University of Waikato.
My works have been shown in numerous national and international exhibitions and performances, including 1st Synesthesia Art Exhibition and Forum in China 2016 Beijing, Xu Zhou, Hang Zhou and Guang Zhou, ISEA 2015 Canada, ISEA 2013 Australia, Congreso International de Sinestesia, Ciencia Y Arte 2015. 2012, 2009 Spain, Rencontres Internationales, Museum of Contemporary Art, LA, Parque de las Ciencias, Granada, Spain, 11th Prague Quadrennial of Scenography and Theatre Architecture 2007, Georges Pompidou Center, Te Papa Museum, and Academy of Fine Arts New Zealand.
I've won several awards including the Wallace Trust, Corbans, Kinetica and a Fulbright Grant for an artists residency at Monell Chemical Senses Center, Philadelphia. I was the conceptual artist for Four Senses Concerts for the Deaf , twice performed as the aroma jockey for Sencity, and given numerous presentations and lectures in symposiums and academic institutions.
